Finally, the city of Bolgatanga, where Better Life Aid Association is based and implements its projects,  is located 32 kilometers south of the Ghana-Burkina Faso border. Today Bolga is known as the crafts centre of northern Ghana, with a large central market where sellers gather twice a week.   
Apart from items found elsewhere in Ghana, the so-called "Bolga hats" are made and sold there. Bolgatanga and its surrounding villages also comprise the largest producers of leather works, straw baskets and smocks in the country. The artists sell their works at the Bolgatanga Market, which is open every third day. There is also a museum in the town which houses objects of historical importance of the region.

UPPER WEST REGION

Wicheaw hippo sanctuary and bird village

It is on the black Volta home to many hippos, hedgehogs, birds lizards and snakes. It also has different tree species. Inhabitants organise traditional dances on request by any visitor.

Nakori ancient mosque

This mosque is over 800 years old but still surviving the decades. The great architecture is pleasant to watch.

Wa Naa palace

This is where the chiefs of Wa reside with their families until they die and a new chief enskined. The palace is so huge that it can contain a lot of people

Mushroom rock – Wuling

The big rock rests on a little clay pillar but it never falls whether rain or storm. It is a great site as there are many other rocks and little wildlife

UPPER EASTREGION

Paga crocodile pond

This is home of many crocodiles. These amphibians are the friendliest of crocodiles in the world. Visitors can chose to play with them without them causing any harm

Pikoro or Nania slave camp

This is one of the slave camps in Ghana where slaves were kept form Burkina and Togo then to the Salaga slave market. Here you will see how the captives were subjected to torture as the dug out their bowls from the rocks around and that is where food is put for them.

Naa Gbewa shrine

The 13th century shrine still exists as visitors will be told the history of the shrine and how Naa Gbewa disappeared into the earth. Suprisingly there is a mysterious snake around the area which harms no one unless you disbelieve

Nkrumah bomb site

This is where attempt on the life of Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah was made. A statue of Nkrumah gives visitors an idea of what happened

Sirigu pottery

Here many pottery works are done. Visitors can try their hands making the pottery of their choice in different shapes and colours.

Tongo Hills and Tenzug shrine

Here if you visit at a good time you will hear the rocks sing. Aside the beautiful rocks laid out as if by man you will can also visit the Great Tongo Shrine which has been in existence for centuries

NORTHERN REGION

Salaga slave market

Perhaps the biggest slave market in Ghana, this is where merchants bought slaves enroute to the Cape Coast dungeon. Old shackles, tree shelters and eating place of the slaves tells a story you will never forget

Mole National Park

There are several species of animals here. The cool and lovely jungle presents an opportunity to see live at close range your favourite animals. There are safaris by car or walk. There are also accommodation facilities of different kinds

Laribanga Mosque and Mystery Stone

Also another ancient mosque about 1000 years old, the mysterious mosque was supposed to have been built spiritually in  a way as architects stop work over night thee come the next morning to see it has passed where they left it

Bui dam and Game Park

The Bui gorge is where the country’s second largest dam is built. Here visitors can go to little villages and interact with locals. At Bui there also exists a national game reserve where many animals live. Visitors will also be taken on a boat safari on the White Volta to see the hippos

BRONG AHAFOREGION

Kintampo falls

The natural cool envirionment here provides visitors with all the relaxation

Buabeng Fiama bird and monkey sanctuary

Here there are colubus and mona monkeys and other monkey species. The primates come close to human habitat

ASHANTI REGION

Patakro shrine

Here the colourful and perhaps the most creative pottery work in history is found. The pottery was done based on transisitons

Antoa shrine

This perhaps the most popular shrine in Ghana, it is believed to have some spiritual elements which rewards good and punishes bad

Digya National Park

Here there are various types of antelopes and black and white colobus monkeys. The vegetation is a great scene to watch when watching from a bird’s eye view

Lake Bosomtwe

The history of this lake makes it unique as it becomes the largest natural lake in Ghana. it has only the small type of tilapia and attempts to introduce new species have proved futile as the lake does not accept them
